Elisa Carlsen

Elisa Carlsen grew up in Humboldt County, Nevada. An outsider artist and poet, Elisa’s writing has appeared or is forthcoming in Trumpeter, Cirque, Brushfire, Nevada Arts CouncilOranges Journal, and elsewhere. Elisa’s poems have won awards from the Lower Columbia Regional Poetry Contest and Oregon Poetry Association. She was a finalist for the Editor’s Prize at Harbor Review, and a nominee for Best of the Net and Pushcart Prize. Elisa is a Poetry Editor at New American Press and the author of Cormorant (Unsolicited Press 2023), a short collection of poetry addressing the human dimensions of a controversial salmon recovery project in the Pacific Northwest.
